Two people have been killed in a house fire in the south western district of Mbarara.
Eric Atushemeza (28) locked himself and the girl friend in the house before setting it on fire after the two developed disagreements over allegations of promiscuity.
At around 4:00 pm on Tuesday the deceased reportedly smuggled petro in the rented room in Katete cell, Katete ward of Nyamitanga division in Mbarara Municipality.
Residents moved in quickly to save the two only managed to save the girl identified as Penninah Natamba in her early 20’s a former student of Bishop stuart University.
Natamba however sustained serious burns and was in coma at the time residents arrived at the scene with the police.
Natamba later passed on at Mbarara regional referral hospital in the wee hours of today.

Samson Kasasira the Rwizi regional police spokesperson told our reporter that police arrived at the scene and rushed the survivor to hospital but later succumbed to the burns sustained.
Kasasira says that preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased had disagreements with the boy friend who accused her of messing up with other men.
He further revealed that the deceased had used petrol to burn the house.
