A heavy down pour that hit Rugando Sub County in Rwampara county destroyed houses and classrooms.
The heavy down pour characterized by heavy winds last evening hit the area destroying houses and blew off iron sheets of Nyakaguruka Primary school.
The school’s administration block and two classrooms were swept away.
Prosper Tusiime the headmaster Nyakaguruka says that the school library, two classrooms that host primary one and six were destroyed completely.
Tusiime is worried that if there is no intervention, the pupils will be affected.
Emmanuel Anyijukire the parish chief for Nyarubungo parish says that the villages of Rugarama, Rubare, Karora,Rweshama,Buhihi,Katitanga and Nyarubungo were seriousily affected.
He says that over 300 families have either lost their crop gardens or lost their animals.
He says that they are already assessing the magnitude of the damage.
Mbarara district inspector of schools Keneth Muragyira says that he visited the school and that he is working on a report to submit to the relevant authorities for possible intervention.
