Amani takes Kigezi Hip-Hop to the next level

Shankline Asumani Byaruhanga commonly Known as Amani Amanigger is a Kabale born Hip hop star.

25th December, 1991 saw the Birth of Amani to Shankline Babuhamwe and Kushida Ndagire, residents of Kigongi ward, Central Division, Kabale municipality.

He is the 3rd born of his parents’ 6 children.

Amani attended primary at Kigezi High School Primary School and later went to Kigali for secondary school. He later completed Ordinary level at Bugembe Islamic Secondary School, Jinja.

Amani started as a Karaoke performer in 2004. In 2009 He hit the studios for the first time releasing his first single “Omukiga womuniga.”

His first song was a big success and it drew massive support from his home district of Kabale and beyond.

It was the birth of the Rukiga version of Hip-Hop termed as “Kiga flow.”

 

Since then, Amani has been singing and he currently has a 12 tracks Album. He is currently working on his second Album that has so far reached 4 songs.

 

His most popular songs among others include Ne Must, Kemerwa,Oraba Orandabaho,Kyahwire, Guma and the latest jam Zagwa Zigwe.

Amani believes that he can take Kigezi to the top by remaining glued to Rukiga

 

Style

“Kiga-flow,” the Rukiga version of Hip-Hop which Amani performs in is a preffered genre of music in Kigezi region and Western Uganda.

 

Amani uses intricate rhyme patterns, metaphors, and word play to bring about songs that he says are aimed at culture promotion in a more lively way.

 

Amani has recorded his songs from Crystal Sounds, U-records, Speed Moja, Jazz Productions, Spring Studios, Elgon Studios, Alfa Music, Murder Kayz and Big Beats.

His greatest stage performances among others include Radio West’s Ekinihiiro in 2015, Kigezi night, 2016 Rukundo Egumeho of Bakiga Nation, KCCA festival 2016 and his latest tour in the Kigezi Caravan of 2017 where he performed in all districts of Kigezi.

 

 

AWARDS WON

 

Amani won the Western Uganda category in the UG HIP HOP AWARDS 2016, Artist of the year 2014,2015 (Kigezi Music and Media Awards), Best Western organized innovative  artist of the year 2016.

 

In January 2017, having left Shab Empire, Amani was taken over by Big Beats Entertainment under the management of Eddie Rush.

He on April 10th, 2017 released his latest Single “ Zagwa” which was produced by Henry Kiwuwa.

The song currently rocks airwaves in Western Uganda and dominates dance parties.
