Police Arrests 21 Suspected Thugs In City Operation

Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) Region are holding 21 people arrested during police operations.

 

The suspects were arrested yesterday from areas of Arua Park, Nebbi Park, Kinyamwandu, Market Street and Platinum House. 


Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Police Spokesman, Luke Owesigyire says that the Intelligence led operation was intended to round up wrong elements in the community.

 

The action was prompted by property snatching, assault complaints and other urban related criminal cases. 


According to Owesigyire, the Police had been tipped off that people vending marijuana and other related drug threatening traders, a situation that was quite worrying and that the operations are part of the security preparations ahead of the forthcoming festive season. 


“Business owners are intimidated by thugs. The Police will not allow. We have deployed uniformed and non uniformed operatives to ensure that such criminals are brought to book, ” Owesigyire added
