Kabale municipal councilors led by the mayor, Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha, have ordered the Kabale Municipal Town clerk, Innocent Ahimbisibwe to terminate the contract of Kigezi transports limited. The company was tendered by the Municipal council to manage the Kabale taxi park and was supposed to remit monthly returns of 33 million shillings.
The councilors made the order yesterday during the council session that was presided over by Speaker, Deogracious Byamukama at the council hall in Kabale town. The motion to suspend the tender was moved the chairman of the Finance, planning and investment sectoral committee, John Kalisa, who told the council that Kigezi transports limited owned by Shankline Babu, has defaulted 224,190,000 shillings.
The Kabale Municipality Mayor, Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha, tasked the town clerk to terminate the company’s contract, recover all the arrears and write a report to the contract committee with immediate effect.
The Kabale municipal town clerk, Innocent Ahimbisibwe, promised to implement the council resolution saying that even the solicitor General had advised him to terminate the said contract.
