The construction of an 11.2 Kilometres power line in Kashari county was Thursday launched.
Speaking at the launch, Kashari North county legislator Wilberforce Yaguma Rutashokwa revealed that the project is funded by the government through the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) . The same project is also supported by a loan from the Islamic Development Bank.
The power line starts at Buyenje through several trading centers in Rubindi Sub County with ten transformers to be installed on the line.
Addressing the beneficiaries of the project at well attended meetings at Bitsya, Kyemengo and Omukakoona trading centers, Yaguma , revealed that the contract for the construction has been signed and work will commence soon.
The legislator also asked the locals to put the project to good use saying that electricity can be used to improve their standards of living.
He also called on locals to embrace the project saying that there is no compensation money.
The Project Engineer ofr Rural Electrification Agency Western Region Fred Asiimwe called up the locals to report any one found soliciting money from the locals to police.
