Bishop Stuart University students on Friday donated 400 kilograms of posho, 8 sacks of clothes and one sack of shoes to the refugees at Kabazana reception Centre, Nakivale refugee settlement in Isingiro district.
The donation drive was spearheaded by students of social work and social administration at the University.
The move was to carter for the refugees who just entered the country.
Some of the students who participated in the drive revealed that the donation was part of their course of study which teaches them how to help vulnerable people.
Joshua Musinguzi –the head of social work department at Bishop Stuart University hailed the students for the gesture noting that the donation is part of the core values of the university which is to give back to community.
Jean Claude Nsengimana is one of the beneficiaries told our reporter that he was happy to have received support from the students.
He revealed that such donations to refugees in the camp make them feel at home and loved despite being away from their homes.
