Mbarara grade one Magistrate’s court presided over by grade one magistrate Sanyu Mukasa has released the Forum for Democratic Charge -FDC party presidential candidate Patrick Amriat and Kawempe division legislator Mubarak Munyagwa on bail.
The two were transferred to Mbarara yesterday after being arrested from kabale district where they had reportedly gone to check on Col.Dr.Kizza Besigye the former Forum for Democratic Change party presidential flag bearer who was detained there.
The two were charged with malicious damage to and inciting violence.
The two are accused of inciting FDC supporters on Tuesday to attack police on Tuesday this week where officers were attacked and police vehicles smashed as police moved in to block a procession through Mbarara town and also dispersed a planned rally at Boma grounds in Mbarara town.
They were bailed out at 5 million each not cash while their two sureties Stanley Katembeya –the Mbarara district FDC chairman and George Twesigye –the Mbarara municipality FDC chairman were also at bonded 5 million each not cash.
They are expected back in court on 16th January 2018.
After being released , Patrick Amuriat –the FDC party presidential candidate blamed police for disrupting their presidential party campaigns.
