Anti riot police in Kabale district is heavily at Ndorwa secondary school in southern division of Kabale Municipality, to foil a strike by students, who were accusing the Deputy Head teacher, Dominic Tumukunde, for confiscating money of students.
The students went on rampage today afternoon, accusing Tumukunde of taking 20,000 shillings from Ronald Ainamani, a senior one student. They also accuse him of confiscating 10,000 shillings from a senior three student only identified as Carols yesterday. They also claim that Tumukunde obtained 70, 000 shillings meant for school fees from another student at the start of the term in pretext that he wanted to bank it for him.
The students also protested little food they get for lunch despite administrators increasing school fees from 90,000 shillings to 130,000 shillings. Police commanded by the Officer-in-Charge of Operations at Kabale Central Police station Majid Alituha was seen moving around the school to ensure scuffle erupts.
The accused Deputy Head teacher Dominic Tumukunde, said that the students struck because of the excitement they borrowed from other schools in the municipality, where strikes have happened this term
