Viali Bainomugisha the Mbarara city Football club head coach has been sacked.
Sources at the Mbarara based club indicate that the coach was sacked by the club’s management after failing to impress in the Azam premier league.
The sacking was made public by the club’s chief executive officer Saddam Mugaru today afternoon.
According to Saddam, the coach has failed to impress the management after registering a poor run of results in the league.
Bainomugisha took over from Richard Makumbi who helped the club to gain promotion to Uganda’s top flight football,
The club’s administration had reportedly given the coach a top four position target which he failed to achieve.
Efforts by our reporter to get in touch with the sacked coach were fruitless as his known contacts could not go through.
Mbarara city is currently in the 10th position of the Azam Premier league.
Mbarara The club was founded in 2010 as Citizens F.C. after the management of Citizens High School in Mbarara decided to create a team to play in mature competitions and help in nurturing football at the school.
The team played in the Western Uganda regional league starting from 2010 to 2014 and in 2014, the team won the Western Uganda Regional League and was promoted to the FUFA Big League. In 2015, Citizens F.C. was renamed Mbarara City F.C mainly to get acceptability and fan base among the people of Mbarara, though the team remained under the management of Citizens High school.
