Health plus Development communication, a young people centered organization has partnered with Busoga kingdom to equip the youth with skills in the area.
The organization aims at skilling young people in the Busoga sub region to be responsible adults.
While announcing the partnership in a meeting with the speaker of parliament Rebeca Kadaga at parliament, the chief Executive officer Health plus Development communication Sylvia Namabidde Sinabulya said that the intervention will inform the young people about the behavioral change in their bodies.
She revealed that some youth have often confused body changes as a sign of attaining adulthood an act she says must be addressed immediately.
The organization will target holiday makers in the area through organizing camps where the participants will be equipped with various skills.
Joyce Abaliwano the deputy minister for gender in Busoga kingdom says that camps dubbed “Ekigango” are aimed at helping young people in this sub region to get skills.
The participants will be trained in making sanitary pads among others.
Abaliwano says that the area is still battling high levels of poverty and that some of the basic needs must be locally sourced.
