Donozio Kibanda the Birere sub county local council five councilor in Isingiro district is calling for more funds to be allocated to the sub counties to carter for maintenance of roads.
Kibanda on Tuesday evening told our reporter in Mbarara town that the sub counties continue to find it hard to maintain and open new access roads in their areas of jurisdiction due to financial constraints.
Kibanda says that the monies ranging between 3-4 million shillings released to sub counties each financial year is not enough to meet the demand for better roads and says that it becomes very worse when there are some bridges to be constructed.
Kibanda says that there is need for the central government to always asses the needs of the areas before money is allocated to them so that the money released is commensurate to the activities to be done on the ground.
