Residents of Kisoro district have been urged to embrace tree planting as a measure to check natural disasters.
This call was on Tuesday made by Madelaine Westwood director and the founder of the great apes film initiative a United Kingdom based organization.
Westwood was speaking to the residents of Bukimbiri sub-county Kisoro District where they had an outreach program in conjunction with the wild life clubs of Uganda held at Kyisekye Primary School.
He revealed that tree planting is vital for environmental conservation and has much more benefits which are even beyond financial.
Westwood added that the they are focusing on protecting the mountain Gorillas and chimpanzees but also work closely with the schools and locals who have seen the wrath of the bad environmental practices that have resulted into heavy rains that trigger landslides that often claim lives.
The team also donated scholastic Materials and clothes to pupils of Kyisekye Primary School under the GAFI School twinning program.
