Police in Kabale are holding a 47 year old man for impersonating as a doctor and in possession of government stores.
The suspect has been identified as Alex Arineitwe, a resident of Kashaki cell, Nyamiyaga Parish,Bubaare Sub County in Rubanda District. According to police, Arineitwe was arrested on Wednesday while in Butanda Sub County treating locals.
Elly Maate, the Police Spokesperson for Kigezi region says that after a tip off from one of the concerned locals, police found Arineirwe also pretending to be a dentist and charging locals with teeth problems forty thousand shillings for extraction.
Maate also says that the suspect was found in possession of boxes containing, Coartem, Clotrimazole and Vitamin C Capsules, Flagyl and Septrin, capsules, Injectaplan and dental instruments. Maate says that the suspect was arrested after failing to present any identification to certify that he is a doctor.
Maate adds that the suspect who is currently being detained at Kabale Police Station pending court.
Arinaitwe however denies being a doctor. He claims that he bought all the drugs at SHIFA Pharmacy based in Kabale town for his personal medication, only that he did not bother to understand that all the tablets were bearing a government label, “Not for Sale”.
