Mbarara resident district commissioner Captain Martha Asiimwe has urged parents in the country to join the fight against aids as Uganda joins the rest of the world to celebrate world aids day 2017.
This year’s World AIDS day will celebrate under the theme; global Right to Health while in Uganda the celeberations will be held under the theme ; Reaching men, girls and young women to reduce new HIV infection.
Uganda’s national celebrations are underway in Kole district, Northern Uganda and president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to honour the function
Asiimwe believes that parents once organised and committed, they can play a vital role in mobilizing the young generation to fight and check the spread of HIV/AIDS.
She further cautioned religious leaders who claim to heal the viral disease and going ahead to asking them to refrain from taking drugs.
