The debate on the contentious constitutional amendment bill (No2) 2017 bill, resumes today at 10:00am. This came after the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga adjourned the House last evening after Members of Parliament complained about microphones not working well.
The Speaker’s decision to adjourn the house came after MPs voted to suspend rule 201 to allow members to debate on the age limit bill report. During the afternoon session, there were 386 MPs present out of the total number of 451 law makers.
The Speaker had earlier ruled that the report by the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee on the controversial ‘Age Limit’ Bill is authentic. Kadaga’s ruling came after the suspension of the business of the House for her to ascertain the authenticity of the report after MPs led by Lwemiyaga County MP Theodore Ssekikubo raised a procedural point questioning the report.
