Man Held for Sectarian Utterances

Police in Rwizi region are holding a 52 year old man for allegedly promoting sectarianism.

William Tandeka alias Nkeito a resident of Nabuguyo village, kyahi parish in Gomba district was arrested by police on allegations of making sectarian utterances.

Robert Walugembe the Rwizi region police commander says that on 28th of December last year, Tandeka while at the home of his relative Godwin Mabona Godwin during a wedding ceremony held in Kamugira Village in Kenshunga sub county , Kirihura district allegedly made sectarian utterances during his speech.

The utterances that reportedly aim at drawing lines between the two groups went viral prompting the intervention of police.

Walugembe reveals that his speech was recorded and circulated on social media mainly on whatsapp platform of him drawing lines between Bairu and Bahima.

Walugembe revealed that the utterances were aimed at creating ethnical differences between the two groups.
