Twenty Youths Groups from Kabale district are to receive 106 million
shillings under the Youths live hood Program, part of the 2016/17 financial
Speaking during a final training for the Youths beneficiaries on the usage
of the funds, a training held at Kigezi Private Sector Promotion Limited in
Kabale municipality, the Kabale district Youths Chairperson, John Bosco
Namara said that the twenty Youths groups to benefit are part of the 60
Youths groups which were approved by the district council to benefit from
the program for the 2016/17 financial year but never received funding due
to some funding shortages.
Namara said that the beneficiary groups shall receive their funds on their
Bank accounts starting Wednesday this week. He asked the members of the
beneficiary groups to work as a team for the success of their business
Catherine Kyomugisha, the Kabale district female councilor encouraged the
beneficiary group members to desist from vices like alcoholism and gambling
that would lead them to misuse the funds.
The Youth Livelihood Programme (YLP) is a Rolling Government of Uganda Program, targeting the poor and unemployed youth in all districts in the country.
The programme, implemented under the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development is financed by government with an initial budget of Shillings 265 billion over a period of five years.
