Rwempisi primary school in Rwamucucu Sub County was the worst performing school in Rukiga District in last year’s primary Leaving Examination (PLE-2017).
The Rukiga District Education Officer, Vastine Beyendera said that out of 22 candidates, who registered for PLE-2017 at Rwempisi, 11 Candidates were ungraded, four candidates attained fourth grade, 6 scored 3rd grade and only one attained grade two and no one scored first.
Mugambisa primary school also from Rwamucucu Sub County became the second worst where 26 candidates who registered to sit for PLE 2017, one was ungraded, 11 in fourth grade, 6 in third grade and one in grade two, Other worst performing schools include Kamutungu primary school in Rwamucucu Sub County with 6 candidates ungraded out of 16 candidates who registered, others are Nyamishamba primary in Kashamya Sub County and Ngoma (I) primary School from Kashamya Sub County.
Rwamucucu Sub County is the 1st worst performing Sub County in Rukiga District with only 19 candidates in grade one and 54 candidates un graded in the 23 UNEB Centers it has.
Beyendera has attributed the poor performance of the schools in question to regular absenteeism as well as the failure by Teachers and parents to work jointly for improved performance.
She says that some parents have failed to provide scholastic materials to the pupils which she says is very key for their success.
