Fallen Nyakishenyi Priest Laid to Rest

Hundreds of mourners on Tuesday thronged Rushoroza Cathedral in Kabale municipality to bid farewell to the deceased former Curate of Nyakishenyi Parish in Rukungiri district, Fr. Bonifance Katatika.

Fr. Katatika died on Sunday after battling serious injuries he sustained after a motor accident in March last year.

Various mourners described the late Katatika as a commited servant of God who cared about the welfare of Christians he served. According to the Kabale Diocesan Bishop, Calistus Rubaramira, Katatika was so passionate about Church activities and he dedicated all his efforts to God’s ministry.

“He was a man who would not consider any limitations important in the execution of his duties. He was a great mobilise for Church programs,” said Rubaramira.

The Rubanda East legislator, Henry Musasizi described the late Kaatatika as a humble man of God whose Character was admirable by many.

“In all places he has worked, it is crystal clear that he was a blessing in priesthood. We must stand to appreciate the role he played on earth,” said Musasizi.

Musasizi further used the platform to ask people to fight for positive legacies while still living.

Fr. Katatika was ordained a priest on 24th August, 1997. Prior to his death he had served at Rutooma parish, Nyarushanje parish, Rukore parish, Christ the King parish before joining Nyakishenyi parish.
