The Commissioner of Patriotism in the Office of the President
Brigadier Patrick Mwesigye has emphasized the need for Ugandans to
embrace patriotism for their prosperity and strategic security in the
country.

Brigadier Mwesigye said this today while presiding over the pass out
of 709 patriots from National Teachers College Kabale in the function
held at Benjamin stadium in Kabale municipality.

He explained that president Yoweri Museveni launched patriotism in
2009 with the main aim of inculcating discipline, good norms and
values to citizens and transform in them in their mind set but
expressed disappointment that the program is facing a lot of criticism
among Ugandans which is hindering the development of the country.

Brigadier Mwesigye said there is no way a country can develop when
people are not nationalistic and urged the youth to cultivate the
spirit patriotism as it is a key to lasting unity, peace, good
governance and national development.

Speaking at the same function, the Principal of National Teachers College
Kabale Benjamin Turyahikayo asked the students to use the skills
acquired from training to fight sectarianism, preach the gospel of
love, unity, peace, reconciliation for the development of the country.
