Ntungamo Gets 430 Million Water Project

A 430 million water project funded by the Africa community technical services (ACTS) a Canadian government funded water and sanitation improvement through the Ankole diocese has been commissioned following completion in Itojo sub county Ntungamo district.

The Ruboroga water scheme and the Nkomero gravity flow scheme will serve at least 1600 households in Itojo and Ndaija Sub County.

The Acts western region manager Mr. Richard Musinguzi said during the commissioning of the project on Friday that the works was initiated by the locals demand for safe and clean water. The locals in the area live in high places with only water in wetlands where they make wells for water which is normally unclean and not safe.

The Ntungamo district chairperson Mr. Denis Singahache said donor organizations and faith based organizations were doing a great job supplementing the government on key projects like water and education as government remains constrained on giving services to the local people.

Locals asked government to always support projects funded by the non government organizations especially by providing and building key infrastructural developments like roads. The Ntungamo RDC Ms. Justine Mbabazi however blamed donors and NGOs for undertaking projects in areas without informing government that may also come in to resolve standing issues that may perturb projects development.
