Mbarara City Fc on monday confirmed the appointment of Sam Kawalya as their new head coach on a one year contract.
The 37 year old retired goalkeeper will replace Ibrahim Kirya who was sacked 7 days ago due to the team’ poor perfomance.
Kawalya is expected to help the team survive being delegated back to the Fideration of Uganda Football Association Big league and the Azam premier league season nears the end.
The new coach arrived at the club last evening and attended training sessions at Kalyeka stadium as his new team prepares for an encounter against Plascon Kansai in the Stanbic Bank Uganda cup round of 16 slated for 22 March 2018.
Mbarara city has so far fired two coaches among them Viali Bainomugisha who is currently with big league side Kabale Sharp Fc and Ibrahim Kirya who was recently fired.
