Police in Rukiga district is investigating circumstances under which in identified people raided St. James Buhangizi Church of Uganda Archdeaconry in the Diocese of Kigezi and disappeared with church property worth millions of shillings.
St. James Buhangizi Church of Uganda Archdeaconry is found in Kamwezi Sub County, Rukiga district.
The thugs broke into the church on Sunday night and took off with a music system, console, an amplifier, key board, three loud speakers and a pair of wireless microphones valued at 2.5 million shillings.
The archdeacon of St. James Buhangizi Church of Uganda Archdeaconry, Venerable Annest Nkwasibwe says he was shocked to find the main sanctuary and the vestry open on Monday.
He says that thieves entered the Church through the window.
Nkwasibwe also says that although a team of detectives from Rukiga central police station visited the church on Monday evening with a sniffer dog, no positive impact was made.
The Rukiga District police commander, Milton Bwambale, says that they have recorded statements from Nkwasibwe as investigations in the matter continue.
