Women in Uganda have been urged to ensure that they produce the number of children that they can manage.
The call was this afternoon made by Ruth Nankabirwa the government chief Whip who also doubles as the Kiboga woman member of parliament while speaking as the chief guest at the belated women’s day celebrations for Kabale district held at St.Barnabas Secondary school-Karujanga play ground in Katuna town council.
She revealed that the while legislators and the government are committed to support expectant mothers and those giving birth, it is wise for woman to think about producing relative numbers of children so that they are not over stretched in meeting their basic needs.
Speaking at the same function, state minister for finance in charge of planning who also doubles the Member of Parliament David Bahati called on locals to focus on development and desist from politicking.
Kabale Woman Member of Parliament Catherine Ndamira Atwakiire called on women to work towards development of their homes.
The legislator revealed that women are key stakeholders in families thus urging them to embrace development by starting income generating projects.
The function was also attended by Kabale district chairperson Patrict Beisigye Keihwa,Rukiga woman member of parliament Carroline Kamusiime and Rubanda Woman member of parliament Prossy Begumisa among others
