Kisoro Woman Held Over Death of Newly Born Baby

Police in Kisoro district is investigating circumstances under which a new born baby was murdered and buried in a bean garden.
According to police, on 12th this month, Jackline Mahirwe and Mathius Sebahire, all residents of Butuga village, Rwingi parish, Nyakabande sub-county, conspired and killed their baby and buried it in a bean garden.
Police says that according to the locals, Mahirwe is married to another man of whom they have three Kids together, a man who has been in Buganda for work for quite a long time without coming back home.

Police adds that Mahirwe fell in love with another man Sebahire and in the process she became pregnant and produced a baby.

However, Mahirwe decided to hand over the baby to the father one Sebahire in fear for the first husband Who is in buganda, and in the process, Sebahire also decided to kill the baby and burry it in the garden.

The Kigezi region police spokes person Elly Maate condemns the act, adding that police visited the scene of crime, the body recovered and taken to kisoro hospital for postmortem.

Maate adds that Jackline Mahirwe was arrested but Sebahire is on run. He says inquiries into the matter are at hand to reveal the truth of the matte
