Kabale Man Held Over Murder

Police in Kabale is holding a man for allegedly killing his sister
in-law, accusing her of alleged witchcraft.

The suspect has been identified as Andrew Sabiiti, a resident of
Kamuganguzi cell, Kacherere ward in Katuna town council, Kabale
district. He is being accused of killing Florence Tushemerirwe , of 35
years a resident of the same area.

Sabiiti allegedly cut his sister -in-law Tushemereirwe last night at
around 8:00pm using a sharp object when she was returning home from
Katuna border where she operates a business.

The Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson Elly Maate says that after the
incident, Sabiiti went into hiding until today morning when he handed
himself over to Katuna Police station.

Maate also says that preliminary investigations indicate that the
Sabitti was accusing the deceased for practicing witchcraft against
his family adding that the suspect had previously threatened to kill
her. Her body was taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for
postmortem as investigations in the matter continue.

The case is registered at Kabale Police Station under file number CRB
1154/2018.
