Police in Kisoro district is heavily deployed to stop the district residents who were mobilizing to demonstrate against the arrest of the former Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Keihura, their gallant son.
According to a press statement released yesterday from the office of defence spokesperson Brig Richard Karemire, Gen Kale Keihura was on Tuesday 12th this month asked to report to the UPDF chief of defence forces, Gen David Muhoozi at Mbuya general headquarter but Keihura could not be found at his home in Kashagama Lyantonde district.
The statement further mentioned that Keihura was yesterday airlifted by the UPDF helicopter to Kampala, however the statement doesnot go further to why he was airlifted to Kampala.
The Kigezi region police spokesperson, Elly Maate says the residents were being mobilized by the Kisoro district LCV Chairperson Able Bizimana.
Maate revealed that the locals were to hold their demonstration at mayor’s garden protesting Keihura’s arrest which they termed as unfair and shameful.
Maate advises the leadership and the locals to use rightful and lawful channels to present their grievousness than taking law into own hands. He adds that those who shall insist risk the long arm of the law as per public order management act.
