EC Registrar Held for Threatening to Kill Journalist

Police in Kabale district is holding the Electoral commission registrar for Kitumba who also doubles as Sub County Youth Chairperson Chris Turyomurugyendo for allegedly sending death threat massages to Samuel Amanya a journalist with an online news website Uganda Radio Network.
The 32 year old is a resident of Rushambya cell in Bushuro parish Kitumba Sub County Kabale district.

The suspect currently held at Kabale central police station on 23rd May this year at around 1:14 pm, using a mobile phone number 0782,227,581 which is registered in the name of Penelope Akampurira Lynnette, Threatened to end the life of Amanya Samuel.
Amanya was accused of taking photos from the home of the state minister for finance David Bahati in Mwendo Kitumba sub county.

The investigations into the matter first hit a snag after Kabale resident district commissioner Darius Nandinda ordered investigating officers to abandon the matter.
He reportedly went ahead to brand Samuel Amanya as an opposition agent and asked officer to instead protect the suspect he described as great cadre.
Turyomurugyendo, who is also working with the electoral commission in Kabale had declined to even report for a statement at Kabale central police station up to when the complainant petitioned the Criminal Investigations department headquarters in Kampala who moved in and started fresh investigations.
Kigezi regional police spokes person Elly Maate confirms the arrest saying that the suspect is being investigated and will be paraded in court to ensure that he answers the case against him.
