Lawyers have filled a petition the high court registrar pushing for the disqualification of Mubende Senior resident state attorney from a criminal case that arose from an incident where 3000 people evicted from their land without compensation.

The lawyers for the affected people of Kiiza and Mugisha Advocates argue that the officer of court Richard Birivumbuka got involved in the land dispute that led to the crimes alleged crimes where one Grace Nantumbiro and 27 others are accused of murder, criminal trespass among others cases.

The lawyers reveal that the Birivumbuka’s actions indicate that he is deeply conflicted, partial and will not be a disinterested prosecutor.
In a letter received by the high court registrar on the 1st of November 2019, the lawyers are not contented that the officer will deliver justice.
Lawyer Kiiza Eron says that the officer may not be in position to help in ensuring that the suspects receive justice and they have prayed to the high court registrar in Mubende so that he is disqualified from handling the matter.
