Western Uganda authorities cautions public amid suspected locusts invasion.

Authorities in Mbarara and southwestern Uganda at large have warned people who are moving around with insects in bags to scare the public.

There is escalating tension over suspected Locusts invasion especially in Mbarara,Isingiro,Kiruhura,Rukungiri,Ntungamo,Rwampara,Kiruhura,and other districts like Lyantonde.
Mr Kaima Peter,Mbarara district entomologist/vermin control officer said some are allegedly bringing dead locusts from the northern and some insects have been sighted in bars at night.

‘We still treat such news as allegations though we have received some insects from the public,but not real locusts,’Kayima revealed. He added that whoever arrested will face the law.

Authorities are investigating reported cases of locusts invasion in Biharwe Mbarara municipality, and in Lyantonde district.
