Ugandan women folks will on Tuesday March 3rd get a rare opportunity to listen live to one of the World motivational and Global Empowerment Speakers Ms Shelmina Abji who will be hosted by K16 Galz Network at Uganda Industrial Research Institute – Nakawa.
According to K16 Galz Network Chairperson Ms Gloria Muriisa , the motivational speaker Ma Shelmina Abji who is a member of United Nations Girl Up Foundation will be engaging the girls in Uganda to stand up and get empowered to play a role in changing the World.
According to Muriisa, Shelmina Abji believe that when women are empowered , they can take control of their lives , therefore the motivational talk is aimed at teaching the women to be intentional and focus their energies in a positive direction in an effort to live a life of where they are capable of making informed and excellent choices.
Shelmina Abji is a former Vice President of IBM and an Angel investor and an advisor to C-suite Executives all which are focused on empowering the girl child.
Muriisa also said that Shelmina Abji will also attended the Kanungu Galz Network (K16 Galz Network) function in conjunction with Rotary Club Kampala Day Break and Institute of Rural Education and Development (IREAD) to commission the first ever exclusive childhood learning center , “Jiwan Abji Early Childhood Development Center” (ECD) at Kanyamisinga village in Katete Sub County in Kanungu District on March 4th 2020.
The center which became operational this year has been gazzated as a learning center for children and currently has over 50 children.
During the same occasion , K16 Galz Network will have a ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a Ugx 4 billion Women’s Skills Training Center (WSTC) that is aimed at giving disadvantaged women life skills to depend on if they don’t attain formal education.
Currently , K16 has been training and imparting skills ranging from tailoring, bakery, soap making and cateering to selected women at their Offices in Kanungu Town Council.
Ms Muriisa also said that the training also covers training mother’s about improved nutrition and living health lives with their families by practicing backyard farming. The women are also trained in home management and entrepreneurship skills to ensure that they become self dependent.
