2nd Division Spokesperson Roots for Close Ties with Media

Uganda peoples defense forces 2nd division spokesperson Major Charles Kabona has called on the media to work closely with the UPDF in informing and securing the country.

Kabona who was today afternoon speaking at a regional awareness creation workshop on the establishment of a National Mechanism for the promotion of freedom of the press, safety of journalists and fight impunity for crimes against media workers held at Pelican Hotel in Mbarara.

 Kabona revealed that journalists have access to vital information that can be used to ensure that the communities they serve are safe and free from challenges that may be a challenge to peace and well being.

Kabona also commended journalists in Uganda for playing a vital in informing the nation about vital programs such as the recent Uganda Peoples defense force recruitment exercise.

He revealed that the exercise was widely publicized by the media thus making it a success.

Rwizi regional police spokesperson Samson Kasasira revealed that the media in the area has been dependable and asked journalists to always verify their stories with police before rushing to publish so that only facts are given out to the public.
