OPM Approves Relief Request for Ndorwa East Floods Victims

The office of the prime minister has approved a request by the Ndorwa East legislator Wilfred Niwagaba requesting for quick government intervention to support locals affected by floods and mudslides.

The heavy rains that hit the constituency at the beginning of this month left a trail of destruction washing away bridges, destroying schools and gardens as well as crop gardens.

The rains left hundreds of families struggling as their livelihood was brought to a standstill.

In a letter dated 13th May 2020, addressed to the Chief Administrative officer Kabale, The letter authored by Rose Nakabugo for the permanent secretary in office the prime minister, it is indicated that 10,000 kilograms of posho, 5000 Kilograms of Beans,100 jerrycans,1000 blankets and 20 bundles of tarpaulins will be delivered to Ndorwa East to help the affected people.

Nakabugo further revealed that the support will only go to the people who were affected by the heavy rains.

Ndorwa East legislator Wilfred Niwagaba told our reporter that the move is highly welcome saying that the locals were hit badly.

He commended the office of the prime minister for moving in quickly to consider his request for support.
