RDC Issues Ultimatum to Rwampara Wetland Encroachers

The Rwampara Acting Resident District Commissioner Emmy Kateera Turyabagyenyi has given a one-month ultimatum to wetland encroachers to vacate or else they face forceful evictions.

Kateera who was yesterday on monitoring of the ongoing food relief distribution to locals who were affected by hailstorm, said climatic changes have been brought by human activities on wetlands and forests which have tampered with nature.

More than 2,700 families in Rwampara district were affected by heavy rains that hit the district in May leaving the locals in dire need for help.

Each of the affected families received 10 kilograms of maize flour, 3kilograms of beans.

Other families that were not affected by the heavy rains but have been struggling due to the lock down were 5 kilograms each and 3 kilograms of beans.

The food is part of the donation from office of prime minister to Rwampara district Taskforce, and the items include 15 tons of maize flour, 8 tons of beans, 500 blankets, 200 iron sheets, 200 empty jerry cans
