Police Investigates Death of Rukungiri Man

Police in Rukungiri district are investigating the death of a 24-year-old man.

It’s alleged that on the 21/6/2020 at about 20:00 hours, one Onesmus Kanyesigye resident of Rwakatunduri cell, Kabingo parish Buhunga sub-county Rukungiri district, stole a pig belonging to Alice   Bumuhamiza (80) old of the same address.

The suspect was reportedly pursued by Collins Muhereza (38) a son to the owner of the pig.

According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi regional police spokesperson, Muhereza recovered the stolen pig and cut the said suspect with a panga multiple times on the head and hands leading to his death.

Maate says that the suspect was thereafter convinced by his brother in law one Kato Emmanuel and produced him at cps Rukungiri with the killer weapon.  

Maate says that the deceased’s body was taken to Rwakabengo Health center III and a postmortem conducted

He says that the police are still investigating the matter as the suspect is held at Rukungiri central police station.
