Kabale Police Investigates Death of 65 Years Old Woman

Police in Kabale district is investigating circumstances under which a 65 years old woman was knocked and died instantly. 
The deceased has been identified as Peace Murungi a resident of Mukarangye cell Katuna ward, Katuna Town council Kabale district.
According to Police, the incident occurred yesterday at Hakashenyi Sacco in Mayengo along Katuna Kabale highway when motorcycle registration number UER 120L bajaj boxer knocked two pedestrians including the deceased as they crossed the road.
The Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson Elly Maate said Murungi died moments later after she had been rushed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital.
Maate added that the other victim and the motorcycle’s rider also sustained injuries and we’re also rushed to the hospital for treatment but later discharged.
Maate identified the two as Gift Nuwahabwe (pedestrian) a 23-year-old resident of Nyinamuronzi cell Katuna Ward Katuna town council and Gerald Kasigwa (rider) a 31 years old resident of Murandamo cell Butanda Sub County Kabale district.
Maate said that they have already launched investigations to establish the likely cause of the accident. The case has been registered at Kabale police station under Fike reference number TAR 15/2020.
