As a way of motivating learners and promoting good academic performance in the municipality, Kabale municipal council has today awarded a mattress and a blanket to each of the 12 pupils who scored aggregate four in last year’s Primary Leaving Examinations.
In last year’s PLE results, Kabale municipality got 641 pupils in first grade of which 12 of them had aggregate four.
Additionally, 688 pupils from Primary schools within Kabale municipality secured a second grade, 108 came in division three, 53 in division four, 26 pupils came in grade U while 7 came in X.
Speaking during the handover of the gifts to the beneficiary pupils in a function held at Kabale municipal council hall in Kabale town, the municipality’s Principal Education Officer Grace Munyambabazi said that the gifts are aimed at encouraging other learners to concentrate more on their academics for better results in their different schools.
Munyambabazi however condemned some parents who have continuously failed to provide mid day meals to their children which affects their children’s Concentration on academics thus yielding to poor results.
The mayor Kabale municipality Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha also decried inadequate education support by some parents saying some parents still don’t bother to provide all the necessary education materials like books to their children which affects their studies.
Sentaro also noted that some parents have also continued to engage their children in vending in town, which in turn increases cases of absenteeism in schools thus leading to poor performances in schiols.
The 12 pupils who scored aggregate four, included the four pupils from Kabale Universal P/S, 2 from Child Africa Junior School, 2 pupils from Bishop Asili Memorial Nursery P/S, among others.
