A 22 year old businessman in Katuna town Council Kabale district who was yesterday cut and left unconscious by unknown assailants has today died.
The deceased Enock Ankunda a shopkeeper, resident of Katuna Town Council was yesterday morning discovered unconscious in a pool of blood with deep cuts, in his rented room in Katuna, by his friend only identified as Benon with whom they operate a shop.
The Kigezi region Police Spokesperson Elly Maate said that Police immediately responded after being notified about the matter, and took the victim to Kabale regional referral hospital to nurse the injuries.
Maate however told our reporter today that Ankunda succumbed to the attained injuries last night at Mbarara regional referral hospital in Mbarara district where he had been rushed for further management.
Maate though said that before his death, Ankunda revealed that he was cut by Rogers Nyesiga a 25 year old resident of Kirigime cell and ward, Southern division Kabale district but a borne of Kambuga in Kanungu district.
Nyesiga is reported to have recently been released from prison on court bond after clocking mandatory days on the 22/07/2020 on a thefty case of UGX 12 M case where the deceased was a key witness the reason he attacked him to kill evidence.
Maate added that after the incident, Police recovered Nyesiga’s known jacket and a trouser he was putting on, with blood stains from a neighbouring unfinished house in Katuna as exhibits. He added that the body of the deceased has been taken to Rakai his home district for burial.
Maate requested any person that could be knowing the whereabouts of Nyesiga to volunteer the information to police so that he is apprehended and charged accordingly as inquiries into the matter are ongoing.
