UN Resident Coordinator Rosa Malango in western Uganda, Mbarara district chairman calls for a new policy on refugees

Mbarara district L C 5 chairman, Rtd. Capt. J B Tumusiime Bamuturaki has asked the government to introduce and pass a policy that all refugees become urban refugees for betterment of the relationship between them and citizens.

While speaking in a meeting with Ms. Rosa Malango,the United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator for the Republic of Uganda, JB revealed that some members of the public still fear refugees thinking they cause insecurity but if all refugees can be allowed to participate in business and other activities, they will properly coexist with the community.

 In the same meeting at Mbarara district headquarters Kamukuzi, Ms Rosa Malango pledged more UN support towards the development of Uganda.

She later headed to Isingiro district as part of her western Uganda visit to UN frontline staff & partners implementing COVID-19 critical programmes & engaging youth in sustainable development goals.
