Seven killed by landslides in Buhweju district

At least 7 people have been killed by landslides that hit a house belonging to Asiimwe Crescent in Kyesika cell Katara Parish Karungu Sub-County Buhweju district today afternoon.

Bwengye Mbagaya, a resident of Kyesika cell where the incident happened says four members belong to Asiimwe’s family and three are residents of the neighboring Mutojo village who were seeking shelter due to heavy downpour.

Another resident known as Namara Joselyne says the situation was terrible, adding that even some of the children were swept away by running water.

The Buhweju District Police Commander-DPC Denis Kamugisha says police and medical staff have carried out a postmortem and permitted families to bury their beloved ones
