A 27-year-old expectant mother was on Monday killed in a road accident as she was being transported to Mbale regional referral hospital to give birth.
The accident occurred near Grace Primary school on Mbale-Bufumbo road in Mbale city.
The deceased has been identified as Aisha Woguti who was being transported on a motorcycle and was knocked by a speeding vehicle.
Elgon regional police spokesperson Rodgers Taitika says that the accident involved a NADIA vehicle registration number UAR 902 T and a Bajaj boxer.
He adds that other four people were injured in the accident and investigations into the matter have been initiated.
