Contractors have been urged to always focus on completing projects on time in a bid to save time and money.
This call was today made by Ntungamo resident district commissioner George Bakunda while speaking at the ground breaking for the construction of a new facility at Ihunga Health center II.
Bakunda revealed that once contractors finish their work on time, it enables the supervisors to easily supervise them as well as doing away with confusion and extra costs resulting from delays.
The structure in question will host a maternity/ general ward, Latrine with four stances and four bathrooms, placenta pit and a medical waste pit at a cost of shillings 604.
Ntungamo chief administrative officer Hanny Turyahebwa revealed that the district is committed to ensuring that health service delivery is improve adding that Ihunga health center will now be elevated to a health center III so that the locals can get better services closer to them.
He also tasked the locals in the area to monitor the progress of the project saying that this will lead to quality work and ensure value for money and further cautioned health workers against being rude to their clients.
Peter Nkurunungi the executive director for Geses Uganda which is undertaking the construction of the project promised to deliver the work on time and ensure that the work executed is in line with the bills of quantities.
He also commended the leadership of the district for creating a favorable environment for the contractors and promised to work closely with the local leaders in executing the contract.
The team later commission a similar project at Nyanga health center II in the sub-county of Rubaare y also at a cost of 604 million and will also be implemented by Geses Uganda limited.
