Isingiro casual worker murders two children before committing suicide

Tension and grief on, Thursday, March 25, 2021, engulfed the residents of Rwenfunjo village Rwetango Masha sub-county in Isingiro district after a casual worker cut two children to death before killing himself, leaving the children’s grandmother in critical condition with cuts on her head.

It’s alleged that at about 11AM, Bahama Peter,60,a Munyarwanda and a casual worker in the area went to the home of Kiryabaho Annah and first cut her head with a panga.

Upon thinking that Kiryabaho had died, he took her two grandchildren Tumushabe Joshua,10,and Nabasa Shallon,7, to his house, murdered them and set the house ablaze.

According to Samson Kasasira the Rwizi Region Police spokesperson, Bahama later cut his neck and his body was also burnt alongside those of the kids beyond recognition.

“Our team visited the scene with the district CID, Soco and homicide squad and retrieved three bodies that were taken to Mbarara regional referral hospital for postmortem” Kasasira added.

Annah who is unconscious has also been admitted to Mbarara regional referral hospital where she is nursing injuries sustained in the attack.

The killer weapon was recovered and inquiries are underway to establish what could have sparked the brutal act.
The case of murder and arson has been registered at Isingiro central police station on reference number CRB 349/2021.
