Kabale woman arrested over death of her husband

Police in Kabale has arrested a woman suspected to have cooperated  with her children to kill her husband.

The suspects is Evas Nkwasa 45, a resident of Kigarama B of Hamuhambo Ward, Ryakarimira Town Council in Kabale District . She reportedly  cooperated with  her two sons Isaac Kiiza and Barnet Niwamanya  to kill her 35 year old husband Bosco Niwagaba. 

 Ms Nkwasa was already mother to the two boys before she married Bosco, African Pearl News has learnt.

In a phone interview with our reporter, the Mayor of  Ryakarimira Town Council Canon Enock Kazooba narrated that Bosco was hit on the head with either an axe or a hand hoe. This was after he picked a fight with his wife over money they had collected from a bar they jointly owned near their home in Kigarama Trading Centre.

After the heated fight turned bloody, the children came to rescue their mother who was being overpowered by the husband.  Kiiza who is the eldest son reportedly picked a hoe and hit  his step father in the head and the victim collapsed to the ground .

According to Canon Kazooba, a neighbor identified as Ms Black made an alarm and locals came to rescue Bosco but they found him lying down motionless and unconscious. He was rushed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital from where he was declared lifeless at arrival.

Kazooba said after notifying Police, he commanded a team of locals in an operation to arrest the suspects, but by the time they arrived, Kiiza and Barnet  had taken off.  Their motjer was apprehended detained at Ryakarimira Town Council Police Post, before she was  transferred to Kabale Police Station.

Kazooba condemned the act. He asked married people to make use of his office and other government institutions to settle matters arising with in the family and to avoid involving children in Domestic Violence.

Spencer January who is an uncle to the deceased told our reporter that Nkwasa had attempted to kill her husband on several occasions over unknown reasons.

Spencer said the deceased has left behind four young children  . He wants a jail sentence of atleast 50 years handed to the suspected murderers as a lesson to others.

The Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson Elly Maate confirmed the incident. He said the Scene of Crime Officers arrived at the scene and picked the exhibits for further investigation.
