Police in Rukiga district are investigating circumstances under which a 36-year-old man committed suicide after killing his aunt.
Furaha Karuhanga a resident of Nyamihanga village in Nyakasiru parish of Bukinda sub county –Rukiga district reportedly attacked her aunt identified as Savious Bakahebwa (49) a resident of the same area at her home around 01:00 am and cut her using a pang on the head leaving her unconscious and later succumbed to the injuries.
The suspect later ran away to the neighboring farm of one Pedson where he was working, climbed a big and tall eucalyptus tree and hanged himself in the extreme branch.
Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate says that preliminary investigations indicate that the two have been for long had land wrangles and it is suspected that the wrangles could have been the source of confusion.
He adds that the police were notified and postmortem done for the two bodies before being handed over to their relatives.
