Police in Rukungiri district are investigating circumstances under which a 73-year-old man was killed by yet to be known assailants.
The deceased who has been identified as Yonasan Batabaire a resident of Nyakina parish in Buyanja sub county of Rukungiri district was on the 8th of May 2021 attacked by assailants as he milked his cows with his 11 years old grandson Victor Ahimbisibwe and hit with sharp and blant objects on the head before he fell on the ground and died instantly.
Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate says that victor rushed for help at the home of James Kananura who later reported the matter to Buyanja police station.
Maate adds that the scene of the crime has been visited by police and the deceased’s body taken to Rwakabengo health center III for a postmortem as investigations into the matter continue.
