Muslims want president Museveni to give special attention to them while appointing government officials

The Ndorwa County sheik Ibrahim Byomuhangi, has emphasized the need for president   Museveni to consider the Islam faith while appointing ministers in Uganda.

In his message during Eid Al-fitr prayers at Kirigime Mosque headquarters Kabale Municipality, Byomuhangi stressed that Muslim leaders have always been left behind while Museveni appoints officials from other religions to top government offices.

He said that as Muslims they would be happy if President Museveni includes Muslims while appointing top government officials since they are educated and have the capacity to handle such positions.

He added that as president Museveni appoints ministers of other religions to share on the national cake, Islam should also be considered and their faithful’s given an opportunity to serve.

Byomuhangi urged the Muslim community to educate their  children Islamic if they are to compete in favorably for positions with other sects.

The Kabale Muslim District Council chairperson Hajji Issah Tidyebwa revealed that the president has for several times been visiting the headquarters of other religions such as the Catholics and Anglicans but has never turned up for any function organized by the Muslims in Kabale district.

 He also called on the president to focus of ensuring that all Ugandans live and enjoy their country peacefully without being intimidated or tortured by security operatives.
