Kadaga Loses speakership seat

NRM big wig Rebecca Kadaga has lost a bid to retain her seat as a speaker of parliament.

Kadaga lost to Omoro county legislator Jacob Oulanyah who now becomes the speaker of the 11th parliament.

 The hot contest saw Kadaga contesting as an independent candidate after failing to secure the endorsement of the NRM central executive committee as she sought for a third term as a speaker of parliament having risen to the helm way back in 2011.

Oulanyah garnered 310 votes with Kadaga coming in the second position with 197 votes while FDC’s Semujju Nganda trailed with 15 votes.
