A row has erupted between the security authorities and special police constables in Kabale district over unpaid allowances.

The constables were recruited and underwent light training and worked alongside police during the 2021 general elections.

On Monday 7th, the constables stormed the offices of the Kabale resident district commissioner Darius Nandinda demanding for an explanation as to why they had not been paid yet they had been reliably informed that others had been cleared.

Ronald Gabirano one of the concerned constables says that they have been patient enough and will only resort to night patrols in a bid to compensate for their allowances.

Ronald Bizimungu another concerned constable says that the authorities in Kabale district and the leadership of Kigezi regional police have kept a deaf ear to their issues despite the first move where they declined to hand over the uniform which they received.

Enock Hatangimana , the Kigezi  Regional community Liaison  officer revealed that rushing to the media and holding processions is not the right approach.

He added that they should be patient as their matters are being handled by ministry of internal affairs.
